b'sinas Hashem osanu -- the cheit of 9 Av

The bad report delivered by the spies prompted the people to complain, “B’sinas Hashem osanu hotzi’anu mei’Eretz Mitzrayim,” (1:27) that it was because of his hatred for them that G-d took them out of Egypt. Of course, quite the opposite was true. Everything Hashem had done for Bnei Yisrael was for their benefit and motivated only by his love for them. The baseless crying caused by this complaint, which occurred on the night of 9 Av, planted the seeds of churban.

The Sefas Emes (5642) writes that way to rectify this sin is to develop the opposite perspective, to see even in that which appears painful and tragic the love of Hashem for Klal Yisrael.

in regards to krias hatorah being a kinah-(i dont know if you read the comments on the old stuff so ill post it here)-mishnah brurah writes that we say seder hayom (and no prob of talmud torah) b/c its lo garah from krias hatorah. if indeed kriah was a kinah, there would be no yalfusa for a heter on seder hayom. bal korchach m.b. see kriah as talmud torah.

  2. Please point me to a gemara that says the heter for seder hayom is a "yalfusa" from kri'as haTorah. Secondly, ikkar chaseir min ha'sefer -- what is the heter for kri'as haTorah upon which you are basing everything else?
